Mid-launches

It's actually not quite the middle of the launch 'season' but getting towards it. The Adelaide launch of Passion Play last week was a wonderful night  - about 170 people at the West Torrens Library Auditorium were welcomed by the Mayor, John Trainer, who handed over to Steven Marshall, leader of the state opposition, to MC the evening.

Both he and Peter Goldsworthy, who launched the book, spoke with their usual warmth, wit and wisdom - a great pair to have bringing this book into the world! Terrific catering by the ILC Ladies, wines by Fox Creek, superb harp music by Christine Morphett who brought her 200 year old pedal harp, and smooth back-up organisation by the Library staff and Wakefield Press ...  No wonder it was a night to remember. The book looks good - Liz Nicholson's cover design is striking and effective - it must be! Sales were excellent. Now in Melbourne, with the second event on Thursday night at Readings Carlton Bookshop, and Chris Wallace-Crabbe doing the honours.  Then it's on to Canberra and, after that, Brisbane. Home, exhausted, by the end of November.
